Getting Started
Therapy is an investment of time, money, and effort, and its effectiveness depends greatly on the ‘fit’ between the client and the clinician. I recommend we have an initial, 20-minute phone consultation, at no charge, during which we discuss what brings you to therapy, whether or not I may be able to help, and any questions or concerns you may have. If, by the end of the call, you are interested in scheduling an initial appointment, we will address logistics and payment.
Health Insurance Policy
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not contract with insurance companies. Nevertheless, I am happy to provide the necessary information for you to submit bills to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Many PPO insurance policies reimburse a significant portion of out-of-network services.
Several Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Cafeteria plans also include psychotherapy.
Payment
Fees are due at the time of your visit by check or credit card. I charge $150 per session. Adjusted fees are available on a limited basis.
Good Faith Estimate Notice
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Location
I mainly see clients via telehealth at this time; however, I offer in-person sessions on Fridays at my office, located at 1400 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley, CA 94709.
“My therapist, Jen, is really nice and helped me in so many ways. She makes me feel really happy and I am less anxious now. Jen showed me tools to help with my anxiety and was always there when I needed her. I will miss seeing her.”
